The Trackside Photographer
In the early years of the 20th century, a town grew up in the Southern Timber Belt around a sawmill and the railroad. The sawmill closed in 1936, but the railroad still runs through this central Mississippi town. Click here to read "Railroad Town: Bude Mississippi"

The Trackside Photographer
On July 4th, 1874, President Ulysses S. Grant dedicated a new bridge in
St. Louis, Missouri. John Marvig recently visited the historic
structure and brings us the story of this iconic engineering marvel..
After nearly 150 years, trains still cross the Mississippi River on The Eades Bridge.

The Trackside Photographer
In 1971 a major earthquake struck the San Fernando Valley of California. Gordon Glattenberg was on hand to record the damage to the Southern Pacific's infrastructure in the area and shares with us what he found in the wake of the earthquake.

I had intended to title this post "Graffiti" but in this small size picture it is difficult to make out the graffiti, which is somewhat improbably scrawled on the top of the tower right of center. I have no idea how the taggers got up there.
