Mountain farm
Farm buildings nestle on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the last light of a winter's day. The snow from a recent storm is almost gone, but the evening air is chilly, and the mountains look cold. Ir will be a night to spend in front of the fire looking forward to the first warm spring days.

Fencerow
By the end of last week the snow was mostly gone and I took a walk in the mud with the camera. It was nearly dusk when I came to this pasture field. The cows were headed back to the barn, and the fence row against the distant Blue Ridge Mountains looked lonely in the fading winter light.

Saturday morning
The pictures that I posted last week from Green Springs were all taken on a damp and foggy winter morning. Around 10:00 the fog lifted and the sun started shining through the clouds across the open farmland that looks much as it did 100 years ago. It was a scene out of time.
The picture above is one of the last shots of the morning. By the time I got home, the skies were clear.

Cabin
Photographing in Green Springs is an ongoing project and I hope to be back in the district again as soon as the weather warms up. All of the pictures presented this week were taken a year ago, in February 2013.
