“Place conspires with the artist. We are surrounded by our own story, we live and move in it. It is through place that we put out roots.” - Eudora Welty
Wow! Esso. Now that goes back a few years.
ReplyDeleteAlmost 40 years. Esso became Exxon in 1973. This picture was taken in 2010, but the building and sign are still there.
DeleteMy uncle had an Esso Station in Poughkeepsie NY back in the 50's
ReplyDeleteDon, I had an uncle who had a Gulf station in the 50s. When we traveled with him, he had some kind of dealer's id that meant that he could buy gas at any Gulf station for the wholesale price, which I thought was pretty neat, but of course gas was only 25 cents a gallon back then.
