We will wrap up our visit to Clifton Forge with this 1954 photograph from the collection of the Chesapeake and Ohio Historical Society. On Monday, I posted a picture taken from a similar vantage point earlier this year.A lot has changed in 57 years.
I notice how many homes and businesses are no longer there as well,. Edd do you know what the population was in '54 and what it is today?
ReplyDeleteGood question. I don't know the population figures, but I do know that at one time the railroad employed around 2000 people in Clifton Forge. Loss of all (or most) of those jobs must have had a profound effect on the community.
